From the U.S. to Malaysia to Germany, the fall months had the solidThinking team touring throughout the world to meet with and present to designers, concept engineers and architects. They endeavored to help current and prospective users experience the software’s features and collaborate with trade show attendees, user conference groups, students and others on ways that innovative 3D software is redefining product design and development. |
“Feedback from our user communities provides the solidThinking team with the most impactful knowledge to help shape our future products,” said Jim Hassberger, vice president of business development for solidThinking. “It’s what has aided in the development and improvement of solidThinking since we brought the products under the Altair brand. These user-focused conferences and events give us the opportunity to gather firsthand experiences and reactions to our current products, future enhancements and potential improvements.”
solidThinking product specialists and executives were on hand at the following conferences, where they met with users, provided demonstrations, previewed upcoming enhancements to the product and engaged in industry discussions about design and engineering trends.

Discussions included reducing weight with solidThinking Inspired and helping designers and engineers generate the most structurally efficient shape for a part based on loading conditions, materials and package space. Attendees learned about companies currently using the technology to develop strong, lightweight designs, while eliminating the need for guesswork, resulting in significant weight and material cost savings.

solidThinking Team Spotlight: Darren Chilton
When not spending time with his wife and kids, mountain biking or golfing, solidThinking Program Manager of Product Strategy and Development Darren Chilton is leading the global solidThinking team in pursuing industrial design needs and trends.
A senior designer with solidThinking since 2008 and formerly the studio lead for transportation design with parent company Altair, the Battle Creek, Mich.-native has come a long way since his days as an industrial design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. He specializes in using his knowledge of the industrial design process, product development and technology to create tools that enable designers to work more efficiently.
