New features and performance enhancements provide an accelerated environment for creative design

Vicenza, July 14, 2005 - solidThinking Ltd and EVOQE today announced the immediate availability of solidThinking 6.5. This latest release, which ships simultaneously for Windows and Mac OS X, once again advances the standard of NURBS modeling in terms of power and usability, while providing a seamless visualization environment to easily analyze and communicate design ideas.

solidThinking 6.5 adds innovative new tools, along with dramatic enhancements to its existing, industry-leading tools. The interface has also been streamlined to make learning and using solidThinking even easier, and new visual guides have been added to further increase productivity.

Innovations and Enhancements in solidThinking 6.5 include:

MultiSweep
Create a single, continuous surface by sweeping one or more profile curves along one or more rail curves. Rotation and interpolation of profiles, as well as the overall complexity of the surface, can be easily controlled.

RadialSweep
Create a single continuous surface by sweeping one or more profile curves between a common rotational point and a control rail curve. Rotation and interpolation of profiles, as well as the overall complexity of the surface, can be controlled.

Interactive surface intersection
Selectively and interactively trim multiple surfaces at their intersections, while maintaining construction history. Any changes to the source objects will be reflected in the Intersect CT object, and the surfaces and faces to split or remove can be manipulated at any time.

Advanced MetaCurves
Interactive and precise numeric control over MetaCurve start and end conditions, such as angle, elevation, and tangent length, as well as options for clamping the MetaCurve to any other curve in the scene for tangency and attachment.

G1-G3 Rounds
Automatic continuous edge selection and new Blend continuity options for G1-G3 rounds with greater control for smoothness and shape.

Patch
Multiple surfaces can now be patched between.

PixelMap and HeightfField
Thanks to the new Flip option, the orientation of the image map can be changed without changing the surface or the image itself.

Shelling and SolidOffset
Speed and accuracy of these modeling tools have been particularly improved when handling analytical surfaces.

Surfaces from profiles
Surface parameterization has been optimized to create better profile surfaces.

User Interface
Streamlined and improved user interface, including new icon arrangements and visual placement and snap cues.

Improved kernel speed
Calculation performance increased in many areas, including performing modeling functions on analytical surfaces.

Multi-processor support for Mac OS X
6.5 adds multi-processor support for Mac OS X versions. Users will see significant speed increases when rendering on multiprocessor machines.

I/O modules
Increased compatibility with external applications. Including blend continuity and smoothness options.
